Nokia N-97 will be available in India by June-end


Nokia's flagship touch-screen handset N-97 will be launched nationwide within two weeks at a likely price of around Rs 35,000, the company announced on Thursday. “Designed for the needs of Internet savvy consumers, the Nokia N97 will transform the way people connect to the Internet and to each other. Expected to begin shipping in India at the end of June 2009,” said the company in a release. Vineet Taneja, Director-Marketing, Nokia India added, “Fuelled by a multitude of media and applications through the Ovi Store, the Nokia N97 transforms the Internet into an experience that’s completely tailored to the tastes and interests of its user”. The device has multitude of technology - including multiple sensors, memory, processing power and connection speeds - for people to share their ‘social location. With integrated A-GPS sensors and an electronic compass, the Nokia N97 mobile computer intuitively understands where it is. The home screen of Nokia N97 can be customized to feature people, content and media that matter the most. Friends, social networks and news are available by simply touching the home screen. The unique tilting, large touch 3.5”, 16:9 widescreen display, which comes with a fill QWERTY keyboard, can be fully personalized with a range of widgets. The Nokia N97 is also suited for browsing the web, streaming Flash videos or playing games. The Nokia N97 is the first device to ship with Ovi Store. In India, the Ovi Store on the N97 will offer a choice of 50 free to download items developed specifically for Indian consumers, by Indian developers. In addition, users will also have access to global items, a mix of paid and free to download content. The Nokia N97 supports upto 48 GB of storage, including 32 GB of on-board memory, expandable with a 16 GB microSD card for music, media and more. It has a Megapixel camera with high-quality Carl Zeiss optics, 16:9 and DVD quality video capture, and support for services like Share on Ovi for immediate sharing over HSDPA and WLAN.
