Slumdog Oscar winners travel to Parliament,

Oscar winning film Slumdog Millionaire was screened specially for an audience consisiting of the who's who of the Parliament.


After a special screening for the President Pratibha Patil at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday, Slumdog Crorepati was shown to a special audience consisting of the Members of Parliament at the capital on Monday.


Speaker of the Lok Sabha Meira Kumar welcomed the audience and told them what the award-winning song 'Jai Ho means to her..

"Jai Ho is a song which inspires everyone. It is motivational."


The musical trio behind the song (viz Rahman, Gulzar and Pookutty) was felicitated by the Speaker herself.


Despite having won several accolades world-wide, for lyricist Gulzar there is no place like home.


"I have seen a great many oceas abroad, but there is no water sweeter than that in the pond back in my hometown," Gulzar said.


As for the Members of Parliament, it was a moment of great pride


Oscar Fernandes said,"Our achievers are being recognised by the world. It is a great privilege for the Parliament to honour our artists."


Even after winning two oscars and bagging a Hollywood project musical maestro AR Rahman remained remained grounded as ever.


For him this is just the beginning to go on and do more.
